Hello all. I was just wondering where you all got your interest in agriculture and machinery from? What are your connection to the farm-life? What do you do when you are on a farm? My self: Both my parents are kids of farmers, so i got it from my parents. I work as an electrician, but i still love to come home to the farm to help with the fieldwork. My dad has a farm in the middle of Denmark, in Jutland (Jylland). He has ~150 dairy cattle. Jersey and black checkered. He also grow 145 hectares of land where the 20 hectares are with grass for silage and the cattle in the summer to grass on. 30-40 are with maize, 50 with a mixture of wheat, grass and peas (in the same field, great for silage) an the rest 35-45 hectares are with barley. Most of it is sold for beer production. The rest is getting grinded(?) for the calf's and young cattle to eat. We do most of the field work with my dads own equipment. The only thing we have other to do is the forage harvesting (silage and barley) and for spreading the manure. Hope this will help to 'kick' some people to write in this great forum - Random

I got into farming from a very young ages even that I have never lived on a farm! but i live next to 2 farms and seeing them go around all the time when i was young got me into farming! My grandad was a farmer but no one in my family kept it up . Im more into the tractors and machinery than cows and sheep so when im older i might become a contractor for a large company with that claas jaguar 960 or i might go into a 3D design job as i quite like that sort of thing. --tractorman--

Nice! I am also looking for an extra job as a contractor. Could help with the more easy jobs, such as collecting bales, ploughing, cultivating, drive silage or grain. Could need the extra cash, gonna buy a house soon

While I have a trickle of farming blood in me from my ancestors, none of my family actually farm. What mainly got me interested was simply living in the countryside and growing up around the fields, watching the old tractors clatter up and down. I suppose that's why I also like some of the older Ford tractors and New Holland combines as well as the shiny beasts of today's standard.

It's just Me -> Nice. I have also a thing for the old equipment. I really like the stuff from the late 70's, early 80's. I'm 23 and schould be a 'grown-up' by now, but it still tickles in my stommack like i am 8 years again when i see some old tractors and combines. Thats why i dont really care about my dads brand-new Claas tractors. I prefer 'my own' Case IH 844XL from '86.
You know what they say: "We dont stop playing because we get old, we get old because we stop playing"

I got into farming by watching them in the field across the road from me when I was a youngster. It simply grew on me. I still go out and watch them now and then, and when I get older, im planning to work on the farm. It's only about 100 meters from where I stay.
